Public Hearing August 11th @ 11:30AM

The Board of Overseers of the Bustins Island Village Corporation will hold a Public Hearing next Sunday August 11th at 11:30 AM at the Community House on Bustins Island, Maine. 

Discussion will include island property owners seeking permission to construct Revetments and erosion prevention, structure and activities. 

Plans will include recommended erosion remediations to address recent damage to the property as a result of winter storms. Work is proposed on Shore Land Reserve property in front of Lots B32, B31, and half of Lot B30.

Large Item Trash Pickup Guidelines

There will be a large trash pick-up on Bustins Island August 1 through August 19, 2024.
Items to be picked up should be placed next to the road in front of your cottage.
Please note the following:

  • No refrigerators
  • No batteries
  • No contractor debris
  • No hazardous materials, i.e. gas, paint, old cleaners, oil
  • Misc. Engines must be drained of oil and gas
  • Large items should be cut into 3 foot sections when technically feasible
  • Mattresses will be handled separately Contact SUPERINTENDENT@BIVC.NET
  • All broken glass must be in an open plastic container.
  • Cover items that absorb water or break down in the rain with a tarp (such as mattresses or
    cardboard boxes).


Each cottage is allowed 2 cubic yards (approximately 4 wheel barrows) of large trash. If you
want to discard more than that, you will be asked to pay an excess trash fee of $50 per
additional cubic yard to the Bustins Island Village Corporation.
